Frölunda (pronounced fruh-LUN-der) are one of the standard bearer teams in the SHL. They have made the play-offs for 12 consecutive seasons (leaving out the 19-20 season where the play-offs were cancelled due to the Covid pandemic), being beaten semi-finalists in each of the last three seasons.
Under current Head Coach Roger Rönnberg they have won the SHL title twice and the European Champions Hockey League four times. 2024-25 will be Rönnberg’s final year in charge before he moves to Switzerland and the whole club will be determined to end his 12 year reign with another Gold Medal.
The club is based in Göteborg (pronounced yer-ter-BOR-ee) and are a popular team to visit for foreign hockey fans. Göteborg has plenty to offer as the 2nd-largest city in Sweden (after Stockholm) and the 12,000 capacity Scandinavium is a very impressive sight.
