MoDo, pronounced moo doo, are based in Örnsköldsvik. They stand out from the pack with their unusually shaped logo, bright colours and a home (Hägglunds Arena) that is built looking out over a bay with water on three sides.
The team became known as MoDo back in 1963. It is an abbreviation of a major company and main sponsor at the time, Mo och Domsjö AB. The company changed names in 2000 after a merger and the team changed the spelling of the name to being in all capitals (MODO), but they reverted back to MoDo Hockey ahead of the 2021-22 season.
Having been in the top-tier of Swedish hockey for years, they suffered relegation in a devastating Game 7 series loss at the end of the 2015-16 season and then spent seven seasons in the Hockey Allsvenskan. They finally got back to the SHL for the 2023-24 season and kept themselves away from relegation worries with an 11th-placed finish.
