Update on CHL coverage in the UK

by Matthew Smith

In an update from our recent article about the new EverPlay.Live service, it’s now been confirmed that they have the rights to broadcast Champions Hockey League coverage across additional territories.

That’s important from a UK perspective as it includes us.

Previously Viaplay UK had some Champions Hockey League rights, just showing the UK-based entrant and the Final, with all other games available for free on YouTube.

That is now not the case, presumably in part because Viaplay UK has returned to Premier Sports and they have decided not to pick up the broadcast rights.

Having to pay for something we got for free previously is never a message you want to receive; however, it does mean that you just need one subscription to see the entirety of the CHL competition. The CHL subscription on its own is 45 Euros (approximately £38) for all games live and on-demand, plus the Steelers have got a discount code of 15% for their fans via their website.

EveryPlay also offer a pay-per-game option, of 4.50 Euros, so if you only want to watch the Sheffield Steelers games then you can sign up that way.
