One of the new features I’ve been working on is a regular livestream during Swedish Hockey League games.
I’ve done a few now on the YouTube channel and am getting into the swing of it. The idea is more to comment on the action, rather than strictly commentate on it, alongside reacting to scores from other games going on at the same time. They’re fun to do, so consider subscribing and hitting the notification bell on the YouTube channel if you haven’t already.
The game footage usually doesn’t have any commentary, meaning that I can bring through a bit of crowd noise from the arena to add to the presentation rather than me just talking over a wall of silence. As I’m not rebroadcasting commentary, and certainly not any pictures, I thought that would be fair enough without infringing on any copyright issues.
What I didn’t bank on is that YouTube’s music publisher copyright algorithms are so good that they can pick up on snippets of music being played over the PA system during breaks in the action! Here’s the alert I got from Sunday’s reaction livestream of the game between Malmö and SkellefteÃ¥.

None of them are big issues, not least as I’m not monetizing the channel, but the final one on the list made me chuckle. In the unlikely event that anyone in Russia was hoping to watch back my livestream of the game, I send my sincere apologies for the current disruption!
It’s simple enough to go through each one on YouTube and just mute the sound during those sections, which seems the simplest approach, so I’ll work on that this evening. In future I’ll try to mute the sound when the music kicks, if only to ensure that the hordes of Russian HWI-SHL fans are not disappointed!
