SHL Resources for the 2024-25 season

by Matthew Smith

The Swedish Hockey League teams are back in pre-season training ahead of Opening Day on 21 September.

And the three Swedish representatives in the Champions Hockey League – Skellefteå, Färjestad and Växjö Lakers – get their competitive seasons going two weeks before then.

That means it’s time to start breaking cover with the first of a few new features I’ve been planning for this season.

You’ll see in the main menu that there is now a Swedish Hockey League page and separate pages for each of the 14 teams.

I’ll be developing the pages over the next two weeks, but the plan is to provide a quick guide for newcomers to the SHL.

Additionally, I’ll be maintaining line-up sheets for every team throughout the season. These are embedded on each team page.

There are some excellent stat-based resources for the SHL, most notably:

However, none of them offer a quick and easy way to see how line-ups change game-to-game, so I thought I’d do it myself. I’ll develop the format and detail as the weeks go by, but if you have any suggestions on ways to improve them then please let me know in the comments section.
